About Myself
Persona
My online nickname is Sephyre, which was an adaption of a MUD character, Sephiro, I used to have back in 1998 in Astaria MUD. Sephiro was a name taken from the antagonist character in Final Fantasy VII, my favourite at the time (and still is). Sephyre was also intentionally meant to be pronounced similarly to the word “sapphire”, which is also my birthstone. Since I like the name Seth, which means “the chosen one” and considering the forementioned, the nickname Sephyre was born.
Family of Four
I was born in Singapore in the year 1982. I will not reveal much about them, but I would say that given a choice, I would not have my family any other way. They have been accepting, supportive and encouraging in whatever I do.
Philosophy
Much of my philosophy in life has been influenced by my family. *Due to time constraints, I will continue this at another time.*
Formal Education
I was educated for the first three years of my primary education in Catholic High School and moved to Anglo-Chinese Primary School subsequently as I entered the Gifted Education Programme.
My secondary education was in Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) where I met the best non-tertiary teachers and mentors in my life. After which, my pre-tertiary education was completed in Anglo-Chinese Junior College.
I am now currently in my fourth and final year of study in the Singapore Management University, pursuing a Bachelor of Business Management (Honours) with a double major in Marketing and Operations Management.
Self-learnt Skills
Since primary school, my father has encouraged me to take up the use of the personal computer. I had only started to learn how to assemble my own system in the late 1990s. By 1998, I had toyed around with my first website in Geocities. I am not proud of it, and by far, it must be one of the most embarassing works of mine. Fortunately, it no longer exists. I started developing a proper website in 2000 and utilised blog technology late in the game in around 2004 when I finally had the time to do so.
Over the years, I have learnt a little of everything, from web publishing, photo and video editing, hardware, mobile computing, operating systems, basic programming, databases, networking, security, consumer electronics. I am by far no master of the personal computing technologies.
